Frequently Asked Questions
By now, you’ve probably read through several therapist profiles—and you might still be wondering how to choose the right one. I get it. Opening up to someone you don’t know can feel intimidating and even overwhelming. That’s why one of my core priorities in therapy is to be down-to-earth, approachable, and real.
In our work together, I bring not only empathy and honesty but also a strong foundation in systems theory, which shapes the way I understand and support my clients. Systems theory recognizes that you are part of many interconnected systems—your family, workplace, upbringing, community, and more. When something shifts in one area, it can cause ripple effects throughout others.
These shifts can lead to growth, but they can also bring challenges that take time and support to navigate. To me, it just makes sense to consider all the systems you're connected to when helping you move toward the person you want to become. I take a dynamic, big-picture approach—while always keeping your unique experience at the center of our work.
There is no way I can list all of the presenting concerns that clients have come to me with over the years. Here is a list of some of the common concerns I have helped people with:
Veteran and Military Issues
Anxiety
Depression
Trauma (Religious, Childhood, Combat)
Suicidality
Grief and Loss
Gender
Sexuality
Life Transitions
The primary therapeutic approaches I use in my work with individuals are Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am also trained in several other evidence-based modalities and integrate them as needed to best support each client's unique goals and needs.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that supports individuals in embracing difficult thoughts and emotions while taking meaningful steps toward a life aligned with their core values and goals. In our work together, I offer one-on-one support to help you recognize unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, and teach practical skills to create lasting change.
Here’s what you can expect when doing ACT with me:
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment approach that I frequently use to support individuals who have experienced trauma, including military combat, sexual assault, or other forms of violence. CPT helps people understand and transform the negative thoughts and beliefs that often emerge after trauma, promoting healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking and coping.
In our work together, we’ll identify the distressing beliefs that may be keeping you stuck—such as thoughts about safety, trust, self-worth, or control—and challenge them in a structured, supportive way.
CPT typically unfolds in two phases:
Throughout this process, my goal is to provide a safe, collaborative space where you can make sense of what happened and move forward with greater clarity and strength. In my experience, CPT is a powerful and effective approach for individuals seeking to heal from the lasting effects of trauma.
Individual sessions are 50 minutes and are $200 per session. The number of individual sessions varies greatly and is dependent on a number of factors.
